BMS Counseling Department
Buford Middle School offers a comprehensive school counseling program that focuses on the academic achievement, career development, and personal/social growth of all students. School counselors are available by request to all students and their families to provide advisement, short-term counseling, and referral services. School counselors often collaborate with parents, other educators, and community service providers as needed to meet the needs of the whole child. For more information, please contact a school counselor.
BCS counselors use ASCA Student Standards: Mindsets and Behaviors for Student Success to identify and describe the knowledge, attitudes, and skills students should be able to demonstrate as a result of a comprehensive school counseling program. School counselors use these standards to assess student growth and development, create culturally sustaining strategies and activities, and build a program that helps students achieve their highest potential (including small group sessions). This includes adherence to Official Code of Georgia and State Board Policies including classroom guidance lessons and programs for child abuse, neglect, bullying, cyberbulling, youth violence and suicide awareness and prevention, College and Career planning, and character education.
