Wolfpack

Stacey Baldwin - Director

"Good afternoon, Wolfpack. We are glad you are here!"
The Buford Middle School Wolfpack Program is an after-school childcare program for Buford Middle School students that is available from 3:00pm until 6:00pm each day school is in session.

Registration
All students who attend the Wolfpack program must be registered for the program each school year. In order to register your child, please complete this online registration form. Students must be registered for the program in order to attend the program. We ask that you fill out a new registration form each school year, even if your child was previously enrolled in Wolfpack. If you are enrolling more than one child, please fill out a separate registration form for each child. Wolfpack students may not bring friends to Wolfpack who are not registered with the program. The cost for attending Wolfpack is $50.00 per week. See Fees below.

Philosophy
The philosophy underlying the Wolfpack Afterschool Program is founded upon the premise that all children should be in a safe and nurturing environment in order to develop positive self-images. Buford City Schools recognize the cultural and family changes that have occurred in the general society and have made a decision to provide programs to meet the needs of children whose parents recognize that after school care is needed.

Daily Schedule
The first segment of the program is used to take attendance as well as distribute and enjoy an individual snack and a bottle of water. All children are offered an individual snack and a bottle of water each day. This snack and bottle of water is included in the $50.00 per week fee. Students are also permitted to bring additional snacks from home. After attendance has been taken and students have been given time to finish and clean up their snack, students are given time to complete homework. Students are not allowed to return to classrooms or lockers once they arrive at Wolfpack. Any homework not completed during the allotted time will need to be completed at home. We strongly encourage students in the Wolfpack program to take advantage of homework time and use it as an opportunity to excel academically. Even if students do not have assigned written homework, we ask that students use homework time to organize their belongings, check teacher Canvas pages, update their agendas, review previously taught material, study material being taught at present, or practice academic skills in order to be leaders in the classroom. Wolfpack staff is available to offer assistance during homework time. Out of respect for those students who are working, all students are expected to remain silent during homework time. The remaining time of Wolfpack is recreational time.

Discipline Rules
  • Always show respect.
  • Clean up after yourself.
  • During homework time, remain silent. This includes whispering, laughing, attempting to gain the attention of other students, sliding chromebooks back and forth, and anything else that would act as a distraction to those students who are using homework time to complete homework.
  • Ask permission to exit the cafeteria, gym, or field.
  • Follow safety rules when in the gym or on the field.
  • The Wolfpack program is an extension of the classroom. Therefore, all local and district level rules are in effect for the duration of Wolfpack.
If your child has difficulty following the rules, you will be notified in writing.
  • 1st notification – warning
  • 2nd notification – suspension from Wolfpack for one day
  • 3rd notification – suspension from Wolfpack for one week
  • 4th notification – expulsion from the Wolfpack program
The student, parent, and the Wolfpack director will sign a discipline form. Copies of discipline forms will be on file with the Wolfpack director and administration.

Fees
Effective the 2021-2022 school year, the fee for Wolfpack program is $50.00 weekly. Daily fees are not allowed. Accounts are charged the full weekly fee regardless of the number of hours or days in attendance. If a child attends at any time during a week, the weekly fee of $50.00 applies. Payment is to be made on or before Friday of the week services are provided. Wolfpack payment options are cash, check, or MyPaymentsPlus. All checks should be made out to Buford Middle School or BMS. Fees may be prepaid. Credits will be applied to future charges. All accounts are to be kept current. Suspension from the program will be made for accounts in arrears. No balance may exceed $150.00 (3 weeks of service). If a check is returned for insufficient funds, the parent will be contacted and asked permission to redeposit the check. Upon the second return of the check, the parent will be asked to make all payments in cash. Failure to do so will result in the student being withdrawn from the program. If your account is in arrears, your child will not be able to participate in Field Day until the balance is paid in full. Thank you for your understanding and timely payments each week.

Funding of the Program
Wolfpack operates on funds generated by the program. The program is structured to pay the cost of the staff and materials.

Pickup Procedure
Come inside the building to sign out your child. Anyone not listed as an authorized person to pick up your child will not be allowed to sign out or pick up your child. Wolfpack pick up will be on the side of the building near the cafeteria. Please follow the arrows and abide by speed limits for entering and exiting Buford Middle School. Parking will be located in the parking lot near the Wolfpack door at the cafeteria. If those parking lot parking spaces are full, please park in any legal parking space in order to pick up your child. DO NOT park or leave your vehicle in the curbside lanes. Those lanes must remain clear for buses and emergency vehicles. Your child will NOT be released for pick up if your vehicle is in a curbside lane.

Proper Identification
Proper identification will be required for pick up. Only persons listed on the Wolfpack registration form will be authorized to pick up your child. If you would like anyone other than the persons listed to pick up your child, you will need to send a written notice. Only parents and guardians may make written changes. We want to keep all of the students of Buford Middle School as safe as possible.

Emergency Procedures for Late Pickups
The staff will attempt to contact the parent(s) if no one comes for the child by 6:00 p.m. In the event that the parent(s) cannot be contacted, the staff will contact the emergency contacts listed on the registration form. When filling out information about who may pick up your child, please be certain to list at least one person who lives in close proximity to Buford Middle School who could come in the event of an emergency. If the staff is unsuccessful in their attempts at contacting someone and no one comes by 6:30 p.m., the principal will be contacted to authorize contact with local law enforcement personnel. Please email Stacey Baldwin at stacey.baldwin@bufordcityschools.org if you will be late picking up your child. If a child is late being picked up more than three times, the child will be withdrawn from the program. All fees and balances will be due immediately.

Fees for Late Pickup
Anyone picking up a child after 6:00 p.m. will be charged $5.00 per minute overtime. This overtime fee must be paid at the time the child is picked up or on the next school day. Failure to pay by the next school day will result in suspension from the program until the fee is paid.

Operating Hours
The program will operate from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday when school is in session. Parents may pick up children at any time during these hours. When Buford City schools are closed, the Wolfpack program is also closed. Refer to the school calendar in order to pre-schedule any alternative childcare plans for days when school will not be in session for students. If school closes during the day for emergency reasons, students are to be picked up as soon as possible.
