BMS is fortunate to have three counselors available to meet the needs of our students. 
 
Vincent
Mr. Andre Johnson
School Counselor
8th Grade
 

After completing his M.S. in School Counseling from Capella University, Coach Johnson began his work as a School Counselor at Buford Middle School in 2023. He worked as a Paraprofessional at Buford Middle School for five years before counseling and has a B.A. in Sociology from Coastal Carolina University. He also coaches the Football and Track and Field teams for the High School.


Thrilled to begin his new role as the 8th grade counselor, Coach Johnson is passionate about fostering an inclusive and friendly atmosphere. He aims to support students in their academic, socio-emotional, and career development, advocating for an open dialogue with students, families, and staff. Coach Johnson believes strongly in collaboration and is dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential.

Childers
Mrs. Kathy Childers
School Counselor
7th Grade
 
Mrs. Childers served as a school counselor for 7 years in Hall County before joining Buford Middle School in 2015. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Lee University, her M.A. in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University, and her Ed.S. in Professional School Counseling from the University of Georgia.
 
She enjoys working with all students and helping them develop healthy coping skills and make positive decisions in order to be successful both in school and life.

School Counselor
6th Grade
 

Mrs. Martinez served as school counselor for 7 years in Jackson County before joining Buford Middle School in 2023. She earned a B.A. in Clinical Psychology from Sacred Heart University in Puerto Rico, a M.S. in School Counseling from Capella University, and a Ed.S in School Counseling from Valdosta State University. 


Mrs. Martinez is thrilled with the opportunity to work and support the Buford Middle School community.  She is dedicated to supporting students with socio-emotional needs, academic, and career development. Mrs. Martinez is passionate about building positive relationships with students, families, and staff. She believes in working as a team to promote students' achievement and their full potential.
